The E-Symposium

The DigEv E-Symposium explained

The Digital Evidence E-Symposium (DigEv) is an international 1-day online event (with up to 15 speakers). The Web Conference is broadcast via cutting edge webcasting technology which is accessible to anyone with a computer, a soundcard and an Internet connection. The presentations consist of a slideshow coupled with the speaker's live, spoken presentation. Each presentation lasts for 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of Q&A. The best sound quality is achieved via the use of headsets which we send out to you free of charge. So to ensure that no delegate misses out on any of the presentations due to time differences or agenda clashes, each presentation is instantly archived and made available after the web conference free of charge. The E-Symposium Player User Interface

The E-Symposium Player User Interface is extremely user-friendly. A photo of the speaker means you can put a face to the voice and the generous slide show area means that you have very good visibility of the presentation. Delegates have access to useful tabs during the presentation, such as:
Audio - Audio Controls as well as the presentation title, speaker name and speaker e-mail
Q&A - After each presentation, the Questions & Answers tab enables delegates to submit their questions directly to the speaker. When the presentation is archived, this tab turns into a 'Feedback' tab to enable viewers to submit their feedback and questions directly to the speaker.
Sponsors - The sponsor tab features a list of supplier links which will take the delegate to a comprehensive company profile, where products and services are showcased in a clear, informative and interactive format.
Links - The links tab enables delegates to navigate to the other e-symposium sections, such as Program, Speaker Bio, Download Presentation, Delegate Chat, Delegate List and CPD.
Help - The support team is available throughout the Web Conference to assist you with any technical questions which you may have.

The Delegate Zone

The Delegate Zone is accessible to delegates upon registration and for a period of 12 months after the event (i.e. right up to the next event).

This exclusive area gives delegates access to useful tools such as the Delegate Message Board and DelegateChat. DelegateChat is driven by Web-based Instant Messaging (IM) technology and enables registered delegates to see who is online (Name, Organisation, Country) and to chat with industry colleagues live. This technology makes knowledge sharing amongst delegates just as easy as viewing the presentations. Many delegates chose to use this service to stay in touch with colleagues throughout the year.

The TEK-centre

The TEK-centre provides 1. Technical Sponsorship Profiles, 2. Essential Industry News and a 3. Knowledge & Publications Bank. The technical sponsorship profiles allow you to keep abreast of the latest technologies and services in your sector, whilst the essential industry news provides cutting edge industry coverage at all times. The Knowledge & Publications Bank will feature industry surveys, reports, case studies and, exclusively for delegates, technical papers of industry experts who are not speaking at the E-Symposium but have chosen to contribute in the written form.

Standards & Committees

The DIGEV E-Symposium is subject to vigorous quality standards (click here to view a copy of our quality standards document). So to ensure cutting edge and objectivity, DIGEV is regulated by a two-tiered committee. The advisory committee (3M Group) consists of three leading professionals, representing the academic, commercial and industry sectors. The 3M Group is pivotal in the appointment of the review committee and the creation of a preliminary program with a proposed list of speakers. The review committee (RECO Group) consists of up to 10 distinguished practitioners, who will firstly review the proposed speakers, nominate additional or replacement speakers and subsequently review all abstract submissions. The submissions, in turn, will also be subject to stringent criteria set by the e-symposium Ltd management.

Invitation

One of the main challenges facing law enforcement, corporations and the legal sector in today's virtual crime environment is a continuity of skills, standards and best practice from the initial recovery all the way to the court room. The inconsistency thereof often leads to unsatisfactory evidence or incomplete information somewhere along the line. This is only made worse by the expert witness roulette which currently plagues courtrooms internationally. The Digital Evidence E-Symposium aims to bridge the gap between law enforcement, corporations and the legal sector by providing all camps with an indispensable insight into legal and technical considerations of digital evidence, whilst providing industry practitioners with practical advice which will have an immediate effect on their daily operations.

The 2004 Digital Evidence E-Symposium saw high profile speakers such as Chris Painter, Bill Boni, Doug Elrick, Dara Sewell, Warren G. Kruse II, Troy Larson, Carrie Morgan Whitcomb and others hold cutting edge presentations which drew hundreds of international delegates. I am delighted that the 2005 sequel looks to draw even more international delegates and look forward to engaging and stimulating presentations by the world's leading experts. We look forward to welcoming you as one of our many delegates.

Val-Pierre Genton,
E-Symposium Co-Chair
